COMFORT IN COMMON
Redifining communal space in student housing
Comfort in Common reimagines student housing as a place that supports both community and personal comfort. Inspired by the layered privacy of Central Park, the project introduces a network of adaptable “nooks” that create gradual transitions between shared and individual spaces. Through spatial design, ceramic-based material studies, model making, and sensory exploration, the project investigates how form, materiality, and spatial layout can foster comfort and belonging. Ultimately, it proposes a more flexible model of communal living where students can gather, retreat, and connect within a continuous shared landscape.
